No problems with the bandwidth issues ArizonaGT, I think Hoss put a bunch more photos of this mustang in the "Gallery" section.

That is some of the wildest pictures I have ever seen. I know what I am about to say is repetitive but holly smokes those 2 guys should go buy lottery tickets because that could have been the end. Actually now that I am thinking about it maybe I will just ask what numbers they would pick for the lottery and I go get the tickets. Note to self have a bigger foot print on the bottom of a bolt in cage to prevent a tube blowing out a cheesy ass floor board.

I dont think the foot print is the problem in this case, I think its where its mounted. The bottom of you floor was never ment to support the weight of your car and all auto power cages bolt to the bottom of the thin ass 16 to 20ga floor. I think the hoop NEEDS to be up against the rocker and welded and plated in both planes or its really not safe imo.

Not only increase the areas of the floor mountings, but you also want to "tie the bar in" to the vertical "B" pillar (and "A" pillar) of the car with an appropriate sized "VERTICAL PLATE"; that would have taken a very large part of the vertical load in "shear" into the car body structure.
It ain't always rocket science.

You're right; and take some of those loads in vertical shear in the chassis structure. That's why a roll cage should be "permanent" in the car structure.

Some additonal info I pulled from Rondawg's FNSweet.com link:

To set the record straight I was not involved in the wreck! When the red flag was thrown I was @ turn 6. The Wreck happened in turn 8. The car was the one I wrecked in Birmingham. Car FX owned the car, repainted it Grabber Blue, and gutted the interior, dropped in a 625 HP motor. It was a monster!!! Russell was running in the 1:27 range on lap times.
Russell was driving. It may have been caused by a hung throttle. People who were present said the front brakes were locked up & the rear tires were burning rubber. I have ridden with Russell many times. My bet is a mechanical problem as the cause.
God decided it wasn’t their time! Friday night Russell moved the harness attachment from the back seat brackets to the harness bar. The roll bar was reinforced with steel plates top & bottom of floor pan. The force was great enough to punch a square hole through the floor pan. What saved their lives was moving the harness attachment to the harness bar. When the roll bar punched through the floor the straps pulled the boys down & bent the seat back. As luck would have it they were both on the short side and this kept them from breaking their neck or backs.
The first thing Russell said to me was I need your car in the shop so we can make sure your's doesn't punch thtough the floor!
